Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 27, 2026

1. Introduction

Journeys by Janell, LLC (“Journeys by Janell,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit our website, submit a travel inquiry, schedule a consultation, communicate with us, or use our travel-planning services.

This policy applies to information handled by Journeys by Janell. Third-party services—including Squarespace, Tern, travel suppliers, payment processors, social-media platforms, and other outside services—maintain their own privacy practices and policies.

2. Information We May Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Telephone number

  • Mailing address

  • Travel dates, destinations, preferences, and budget

  • Information about travelers included in an inquiry or reservation

  • Communications you send to us

  • Information required to research, arrange, or manage travel

  • Website usage information, such as browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring website, and approximate location derived from an internet address

  • Marketing preferences, including whether you have requested or declined promotional emails

When needed for a confirmed travel arrangement, additional information may be collected through secure systems, including passport details, dates of birth, loyalty-program information, emergency contacts, or payment authorization details.

Please do not send passport images, payment-card information, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive information through ordinary email, social-media messages, or unsecured website communications.

3. How We Collect Information

We may collect information:

  • Directly from you through inquiries, consultations, emails, telephone calls, forms, and travel-planning communications

  • Through Tern inquiry, scheduling, itinerary, client-management, and authorization tools

  • Automatically through Squarespace and related website technologies

  • From travel suppliers, companions, group leaders, or other people involved in your reservation

  • From third-party services you choose to interact with through our website

Tern’s privacy policy explains that travel advisors may independently determine how traveler information is used for their own services, while Tern may process certain information on the advisor’s behalf or for Tern’s own stated purposes.

4. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Respond to travel inquiries

  • Schedule and conduct consultations

  • Research and recommend travel options

  • Comply with legal, regulatory, contractual, accounting, and host-agency requirements

We seek to collect only information reasonably needed for the relevant business purpose and to protect sensitive information with safeguards appropriate to its nature. The FTC recommends limiting personal-information collection and access to what a business genuinely needs.

5. How Information May Be Shared

We may share information when reasonably necessary with:

  • KHM Travel Group

  • Tern

  • Airlines, cruise lines, resorts, hotels, tour operators, transportation companies, excursion providers, and other travel suppliers

We do not sell personal information for money.

Information shared with a travel supplier or outside service becomes subject to that organization’s own privacy policy and security practices.

6. Squarespace, Cookies, and Website Analytics

Our website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace may use necessary cookies to operate website features and analytics or performance cookies to help measure how visitors interact with the site.

Website information may include page views, traffic sources, device type, browser information, and general usage patterns. Squarespace explains that its analytics cookies may identify unique visitors and connect activity occurring during a visitor’s sessions.

You may be able to control nonessential cookies through the website’s cookie banner or through your browser settings. Restricting cookies may affect website functionality or the accuracy of website analytics.

Squarespace provides website owners with privacy tools, but advises each business to determine which privacy laws and disclosures apply to its own activities.

7. Tern and Secure Travel Information

Journeys by Janell uses Tern for functions that may include travel inquiries, consultations, client records, proposals, itineraries, forms, and travel-management services.

Information submitted through Tern may be processed and stored by Tern according to its privacy policy and contractual relationship with Journeys by Janell. Tern states that sensitive information transmitted through its platform is protected using encryption and that passport information receives additional encryption protections.

You should still submit sensitive information only when requested and only through the secure method provided.

8. Email and Marketing Communications

When a newsletter or marketing-email service is introduced, you may voluntarily subscribe to receive travel tips, promotions, destination information, and Journeys by Janell updates.

Every promotional email will provide a method for unsubscribing. You may unsubscribe at any time, although you may continue receiving nonmarketing communications necessary to service an active inquiry or reservation.

We will update this policy if our newsletter platform or marketing-data practices materially change.

9. Data Retention

We may retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide requested services

  • Manage current or past travel reservations

  • Maintain business, accounting, insurance, and tax records

  • Resolve disputes

  • Enforce agreements

  • Meet host-agency, supplier, regulatory, or legal requirements

Information that is no longer reasonably needed may be deleted, anonymized, or securely destroyed, subject to applicable retention requirements.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information.

However, no website, email system, internet transmission, or electronic-storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for using secure devices, protecting your passwords, and notifying us promptly if you believe your information or account access has been compromised.

11. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on applicable law and the nature of the information, you may request that we:

  • Confirm whether we hold personal information about you

  • Provide access to certain information

  • Correct inaccurate information

  • Delete information that we are not legally or contractually required to retain

  • Stop sending marketing communications

  • Provide information about how your data has been used or shared

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some requests may be limited where retention is required for legal, accounting, contractual, fraud-prevention, or active travel-service purposes.

This website and our travel-planning services are intended for adults arranging travel for themselves or others.

We do not knowingly request personal information directly from children under 13 through this website. Information concerning a minor traveler should be provided by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult when needed for a legitimate travel arrangement.

13. External Links

Our website may link to Tern, social-media services, travel suppliers, or other outside websites.

We are not responsible for the privacy, security, accessibility, or content practices of third-party websites. Review the applicable third party’s privacy policy before submitting personal information.
